Obon festival

During the Obon holiday, I went to visit my parents’ grave, which rests in the quiet Higashiyama cemetery.
Monday was a rainy day, but my husband and I had a day off together.
Despite the weather, I bent down to pull the weeds that had grown around the stone.

As the rain fell harder, a voice suddenly called out to me through the downpour.
A man stood nearby.
He explained that a new section was being built next to ours, and that he and his companions were the workers.
With great politeness he said, “We’re sorry if we cause you any trouble.”
Then he added, almost gently, “The rain will only grow heavier. Please take care.”

After hearing his words, we quickly finished weeding, prayed, and descended the mountain in silence.
We were afraid we might get lost in the mountains.
Because I remembered that stray dogs had once looked down on me from the ridge above this place.
Maybe he was trying to warn us.

By the time we started heading home, the heavy rain had turned into just a light shower.

Is that true?

”Is that true?”

K-chan called me this afternoon.

I always call her K-chan.

“Excuse me, Ma’am, this is K.

I’m sorry but I can’t go there today.

Because my car was broken.” she said.

I was worried hearing that.

She might have been got into a car accident.

In addition, she lives Setouchi city which is 35km away from here.

“Is that true?” I said.

Then she said” But my close car mechanic will come here to repair it this evening, so if it’s fixed, I’ll go there tomorrow afternoon.

Would you do me taking a today’s lesson off ?”

I felt relieved to hear that it wasn’t destroyed, it just stopped working.

“Oh, I see. Your car broke down again.”

After a while, one question came to my mind.

Anyway, Who is he?

I think it’s very important in human life that we grow up by learning, for example learning English, researching history, writing and computing and so on.

Until middle-age, people have to do a lot of things in their daily lives, such as work, childcare, making friends.

However, in old age, they get a few things which are walking, reading, listen to music, watching TV. Most of them have to give up active sports, although some relatively rich people go to the gym.

There are some people lose their dreams because of repeatedly simple and boring lives each day.

But if they continue something to study till last day, they can find out shining little stardust as forget about many worrying events such as disease, accidents, loneliness, death.

Unfortunately, after a while as they are almost forgetting the findings, it would be better put it on paper.

It is wonderful getting into something.

Happiness depends on us.
